For nearly 30 years the Climate Seal™ storm window system has built a reputation for being the most effective and versatile storm window system on the market. They approached me to modernize their existing brand so that they would have a timeless look that would take them forward to another 30 years.

I had the privilege of creating a new brand identity for the beautiful island named Dewees. Dewees Island is located just North of Charleston, South Carolina. The philosophy of Dewees Island is restoration and preservation, not destruction and removal. There are no cars, golf courses or manicured lawns and there will never be a stoplight or a strip mall. Instead you will find acres of flourishing live oak, pine and marsh, shores covered in oysters and crabs and lakes teeming with fish, alligators and birds.

The logo encompasses the beautiful live oaks trees that surround the island. Dewees Island is also known for their environmental protection especially for sea turtles so I incorporated a sea turtle on a beach with the suggestion of a wave.

I was honored to be elected onto the AIGA Board of Directors as one of the Event Coordinators in 2011. I have had the opportunity to speak at the AIGA BuzZ Event and Eat Your Greens.

Green Drinks Charlotte

Green Drinks Charlotte is a group that meets every second Thursday. It is a group where Charlotte’s environmentally minded individuals, businesses and non-profits meet to network and work together to make a difference in the world. This is one chapter in an International setting.

The Bechtler

I was honored to participate in the Bechtler mural of the Sol LeWitt Drawing #995 in 2009. Check out more on this exhibit here.

Green Paperclip is a designers handbook to “Green” Graphic Design. I wrote the 32-page book to help Graphic Designers get educated and to learn how to implement environmentally friendly design elements to their design. The chapters include design, paper, packaging, printing and the office. To cut down on ink, I only used three colors, orange, green and black. There are no bleeds on the pages of the book. I created a die-cut on the front cover to replace ink and I also hand bound the spine with twine and created a spine cover.

This ad was created for Elevate Magazine. The ad was to promote a dodgeball tournament to raise money for The Harvest Center. The bandanna at the top represents the iconic dodgeball wear and the court with dogeballs creates depth and movement. I also created the dodgeball tournament logo.

Inspired by the comradery of their members, we created this annual report for Leadership Miniseries to showcase the important information to its members and to highlight their outdoor spirit. We used a combination of muted colors and textures to give the feeling of warmth and to suggest their fishing and golfing passion.

When Good Samaritan wanted Bright Yellow Jacket to design their annual report, they wanted to focus on Hands. The use of duotone photos throughout the booklet focuses on the different ways that Good Samaritan uses their hands to help people. Brighter colors were introduced to provide their membership with important stats pertaining to their annual report.
